I have this from Sue Gray. It would be good to get more news about Papillons in obedience and agility in Scotland.
" We were at back to back open obedience shows at the weekend, did nothing on the Saturday but managed a 5th in Beginners on the Sunday. The show was run by Aberdeen Canine Training Society.
Seeing as it is pretty tough competition (56 in the class with a few absentees) I was very pleased that Teasel did so well, especially as we had the most horrific weather that day - thunderstorms and downpours with the loudest crack of thunder happening directly overhead whilst we were in the stay ring! It was the complete opposite of Saturday, which was a real scorcher, as you can see from the attached photo of Teasel and some pals. Seeing as she was the only pap there, it was nice to be in the line up .
She was the smallest dog competing but there were a few others that weren't collies, which obviously dominate the sport. Among them were a couple of border terriers and a westie.
Forgot to mention that it was the first time that Teasel had competed at an open obedience show. I can't see me doing it seriously though as it is not easy to progress up the ladder with all those collies. She obviously has a different style of working to them and this posed a problem for some of the judges, one said to me that she was lovely to watch but 'difficult to mark'! They are so used to collies wrapped around handlers legs but there is no way Teasel could wrap herself around my ankle!!"
